Four progressions for understanding how sorrow can be transformed into joy: confusion, explanation, illustration, and application.

Confusion – We often don’t understand life in this fallen world

Explanation – Jesus promises that the Christian’s sorrow will be transformed into joy

Illustration – As in childbirth, the Christian’s sorrow will be eclipsed by joy

Application – The resurrection of Jesus ensures that the Christian’s sorrow will be transformed into everlasting joy
